“They call her the Toddler Whisperer, and you'll soon understand why.”

“Heather Tharpe leads a story program geared towards preschoolers and clearly possesses a special communications skill set with the pigtail-wearing, sippy-cup-toting, light-up sneaker crowd.

The high-energy Tharpe is also a yoga instructor, mother of two, and a former preschool and kindergarten teacher. So before and after the story, Tharpe gets everyone up to sing and dance. They also skip, jump, and hop backward like a bunny. They flutter their arms like a butterfly, meaner like cows eating buttercups in a meadow, and catch imaginary bubbles in their mouths. Giggling is a consent soundtrack.

"They are not sitting there being entertained. They are part of it", says Tharpe. "The experience is pure joy. It's never work."

Heather wrote her first children's story when she was a senior in high school.

“The genuine, enthusiastic response from my English teacher was inspiring. When I was 19, I was asked what I ultimately wanted to do one day during an interview; without pause, I replied that I wanted to write and illustrate my own children's books.”

Heather began writing and illustrating in 2002. She published her first children's book My Cow Blue in 2015, and her second book, Popcorn in 2016.

My Cow Blue was published 14 years after I began. While the publishing process was a marathon experience, dropping out was never a consideration. I'm so excited to have accomplished this lifelong dream. The incredible response from the community and my little friends has fueled my passion for continuing to curate fun and educational magic for children.”
